In her new documentary titled Gaga: Five Foot Two, the 31-year-old artist opens up about her own personal battle with a chronic illness that she’s been dealing with for a long time. Fibromyalgia!
She has previously stated that she lives with constant pain. And recently tweeted “In our documentary the #chronicillness #chronicpain I deal w/ is #Fibromyalgia,” she wrote. “I wish to help raise awareness & connect people who have it.”
Lady Gaga has publicly spoken about experiencing some other ailments like anxiety and depression, but this is the first time that she’s mentioned fibromyalgia.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, fibromyalgia affects approximately 4 million adults in the U.S. Although there is no cure for the disorder, you can watch out for symptoms and learn how to manage them.
Symptoms include pain and stiffness, tingling or numbness in hands and feet, fatigue, sleep problems, mood changes, headaches and memory problems.
