The Script Help Out New York Fans Affected By Sandy

After seeing the destruction Sandy caused in Long Island, NY the members of The Script sprung into action.

The trio, who were scheduled to play in the Long Island town of Huntington on December 5, moved the show up to November 8 in hopes to raise money for those struggling after the storm.

Lead singer Danny O’Donoghue told Billboard that the rescheduled show was originally supposed to be a rest day for the band, but explained, “How could we rest when so many were in such need? America has been so good to us and has enabled us to have a global career. We felt we had to do something to show our appreciation and give back and help.”

All proceeds—ticket sales, merchandise and the band’s fee–from the concert, dubbed the “Strong Island Hurricane Relief Concert,” were donated to the Long Island Red Cross. The band even created a special t-shirt commemorating the event to help raise money for the victims of the storm.

“We hope that by stepping forward, others will do the same,” O’Donoghue said. “And, we hope we (brought) some much-needed fun and enabled the people dealing with such a loss to escape and enjoy themselves for a bit.”
